The Myth
Before becoming a legend,

Casanova was a violinist.

‘Having no other means of earning a living, I resigned myself to joining the orchestra at the San Samuele Theatre as a violinist.’
The musicians
The Trio
A chamber ensemble of rare refinement
Violin
The ensemble’s lead voice. The violin guides the musical narrative, embodying Casanova’s restless and virtuosic spirit.
Oboe
With its penetrating and poetic tone, the oboe carries the voice of the Venetian lagoon — melancholic, evocative, capable of conjuring up the mists of the Grand Canal.
Piano/Harpsichord
As the successor to the Baroque harpsichord, the piano provides the harmonic and rhythmic foundation, weaving the soundscape against which the solo voices unfold.
IL CONCERTO
Il Programma
A fascinating musical journey in the footsteps of Giacomo Casanova. We shall set off from his native Venice, breathing in the atmosphere of 18th-century theatres with the elegance of Antonio Vivaldi, Alessandro Marcello and Baldassarre Galuppi. Celebrating his time as a violinist in 1746, we shall immerse ourselves in the virtuosity of Giuseppe Tartini, before following him as he conquered the courts of Europe to the gallant strains of Luigi Boccherini. The story will ultimately culminate in a vibrant neo-baroque tribute to his legend as a seducer, composed by Gian Piero Reverberi (Rondò Veneziano).

ANTONIO VIVALDI
Symphony in C major RV 112
A brilliant and theatrical opening. The music of the ‘Red Priest’ was the defining soundtrack of the Venice in which Casanova grew up and developed his restless spirit.
‘Cultivating the pleasures of the senses has been my main occupation throughout my life. [...] I have loved high society, the theatre, and everything that vividly stimulates the imagination.’
